While this thread has only had 2 posts in it with back and forth flaming, I'm going to close it anyway.
For one, while there are great points here, you're preaching to the choir, for the most part. You don't have to convince me, or other forum posters of anything in your protests of bans, forced renames, and name filters; Anet, or more specifically, the PlayNC support team in charge of handling the cases are the arbitrators of these issues, and neither mine nor your opinion matters in the decision. This alone would not necessitate closure, since we discuss a lot that will never impact the decisions made regarding the game.
The flames are why this thread is closed. It's only 2 now, but I have seen these threads since I started posting on guru in early 2005, and there has never been a thread on offensive names and bans for them that has not turned into a flame war when left to its own devices. I've left multiple open over time, every few months, and always regretted it.
I'm not doing it this time. The thread's already had some flaming, and there's no reason to give it a chance.
If you want to contest a name ban, please contact the PlayNC support site regarding your issue, give the necessary details, and pray for the best.
I'm going to be a little unprofessional and add historical point to mull over, and interpret as you will;

Since this is a closing post, following a moderation action, I'm not going to spell out my opinion, for or against Anet, but I think it's very important to consider when you're talking about this subject. I strongly advise looking it up as you contemplate this subject, in respect to Anet's, or more specifically, the PlayNC support team's decisions.
